Leo and I would sit in the living room and practice telepathy for fun while on summer vacation. I would look at a random card in front of me and project the number, suit and colour to my younger brother. We would take turns doing this when we were bored of playing Monopoly or Operation and all the good cartoons were over. We got the images right often enough to keep us going in excited surprise.
I didn't know that this game was a precursor to a future passion with the mystical world of tarot. It wasn't mathematics, piano lessons or ballet recitals that I kept up with but playing with cards in the living room. The game has changed a bit. The players sit and translate what we see in the rich pictures and stories. The information is more complex but the process is the same, we remind each other what we already know. We bring our lives back into line with our dreams of how far we can stretch our edges and we look at the pretty pictures.
I’ve been working with Tarot for 14 years now. A curious exploration followed by an quizzical testing making a leap of faith into an enlightening study then leading into an almost obsessive fascination - tarot has become a steady pillar of my life. I'm curious now to see what inspirations will come in this format. It's yet to be determined what shape this tarot blog will take.
