Mancy is a sufix infering divination in a way that refers to the beginning of the word.
Cartomancy is divination by cards. The following list contains 84 varations on art of mancy I could find on our world wide web.
Skeptics love to site such outrageous examples as burning carbon on a donkey's head while reading a list of criminals to listen for a sizzle that would indicate guilt to claim that all divination is clearly a circus scam. And how could walking around letters thrown on the ground until you feel dizzy and fall down on them be a valid way to gather information? Indeed a strange way to access your intuition but, as they say, there can't be enough proof to convert a non believer and the faithful need none.
I take the view that while there are certainly scam artists galore in this field, and many looking for a quick easy answer, the diversity of creative and resourceful approaches to divination proves its at least occasional effectiveness. It also supports that in my experience, the form of the tool which is used is ultimately irrelevant. Communicating with your intuition is just easier when you have a tool to jumpstart the process.
